Its name means three-horned face. Despite appearances, the Triceratops was not a gentle plant-eating giant. Many fossil records show bone damage due to fights with rivals or predators. The neck ruff offered some protection against predator bites (like that of Tyrannosaurus Rex) and helped it regulate its body temperature.
