Triceratops Pencil Holder
Do you have pencils and crayons scattered all over your desk in no particular order? Tired of not finding your pens when you have something important to write down? Today is your lucky day! We have the solution! Create this pencil holder with us to keep an eye on your drawing tools.
To make this craft, you will need the following materials:
- Print the sheet we provide here.
- 3 sheets of cardboard
- Pencil
- Black permanent marker
- Ruler
- Your favorite paints
- Cutter
- Hot glue gun
Warning: It is advisable to seek adult help and supervision when making this craft.
Cut
To begin, we need to cut out the triceratops silhouette with scissors. Be patient and trim all the curves and corners carefully.
Draw
Draw the triceratops silhouette on two sheets of cardboard, one right side up and one wrong side up. Separately, draw the internal lines, such as the eye, the spots on the back, the crown… pay close attention to the shapes and copy it. I’m sure you can!
Cut out cardboard
Now you need to cut out the two cardboard boxes with a box cutter or scissors, whichever works best for you.
Paint
This is the time to unleash your artistic side. We spray-painted it, but you can do it any way you like. Tempera paints are a good option, or you can do it with markers or even glue colored paper together to make a fantastic collage. Think about what you want to do and get to work.
Retouch
This step requires more meticulous work. Go over all the lines and contours with the black permanent marker. Take your time because this isn’t the time for your hands to shake.
The Structure
This is the most technical part: you have to create the internal structure will give our friend volume. With a ruler, a set square, and a pencil, you can do this using the measurements shown in the photo. Once you’ve made the pieces, you’ll need to cut them out. Remember to create the 6 flaps and mark the folds as shown in the photo.
Paste
And finally, it’s time to shape our creation. Fold the flaps and glue the structure to the two flaps with a hot glue gun. You can also use white carpenter’s glue; it will look better, but it takes longer to dry.
Finally, all that’s left is to add your pencils and you’ll be the envy of any paleontologist.
